When I take bluff from the model airplane field, I get hung up trying to cross Lemont. It's more street than I'm hoping for, but those are easy roads. I think the walk is reasonably safe, but it feels stressful.ĩ1st may be the best option for conserving energy. At least the bridges further south have a fence between the sidewalk and traffic. I walked my bike going over the tracks and the des plains river. I do not recommend that trail.Īgreed on 83, especially the bridges. I even found the hidden staircase in the townhomes on Rachel ct., that connects to the double track running under the high voltage power lines, connecting to waterfall Glen. I've been stumped trying to figure out something better. Really out of the way, but almost entirely trails or bike paths. Take the path west on 101st to Woodward, South to international parkway, West to veterans memorial, South to centennial trail, then finally east to Willow Springs. Pop out of waterfall Glen on the lemont road parking lot. Not sure if this can be done without street riding. Same, but instead follow the lemont road bridge to downtown lemont, then piece together some path to the intersection of Main and 171, to pick up Calsag trail. Cross to old lemont road, take that south to enter centennial trail. Some options I've considered:ĭrop out of waterfall Glen by the model airplane field, taking bluff down to lemont Rd. Getting into the gravel sooner would be cool too. I'd love to avoid the bridges on Kingery entirely, or any street time really. Cross East at the light (necessary due to the heavy traffic), then double back, following the trail north to the Sag Quarry lot.Take the Calsag trail east to 104th, popping out by Teasons woods and Cap Sauers to the south. Or - follow Kingery as it turns into 171, continuing south to the intersection with Main / 83. Take side streets as much as possible, to enter Spears Woods from the north. Head down the ramp to centennial trail, ride that up to Willow Springs. There's sidewalk to both trail options, but every minute next to the traffic on Kingery sucks. There's a path on the southeast end that exits onto the bridge on Kingery. Pop out of waterfall Glen on bluff road, heading east to the townhomes just before Kingery / 83 - on Rachel Ct. Looking for tips on getting from waterfall Glen to Palos trails with as little street time as possible.
